Arvedos Piana nasce il 7 Giugno 1961 a Genova, dove da bambino comincia ad annusare la vita scoprendo che mescolando l’acqua con le polveri colorate può lasciare che la sua fantasia scorra libera e felice sui fogli, lasciando tracce in acquerello delle sue visioni.
Incuriosito dal gioco della parola, naviga nella narrazione, dove cattura le immagini che crea, trasformandole in piccole ed emozionanti poesie.
Il viaggio, mentale ed esistenziale, lo porta a spostarsi da Genova a Milano, per poi incrociare Roma, assorbendone come una spugna storia ed energia. Attratto dall’esplorazione della ricerca, scava archeologicamente nel suo passato, per scoprire e conoscere un trisavolo pirata, di cui indossa elegantemente il nome Arvedos, che circumnavigando l’Africa assaltava navi britanniche, a cui sottraeva i colori e i profumi delle spezie. E tra i tesori dell’affascinante antenato, rinviene il puntale di un’anfora vinaria che ancora trasporta i resti del prezioso nettare. Ristagno di vino. Anzi, ristagno divino! Questa antica spremitura di uve lo cattura, e nasce un appassionante ricerca artistica che attraverso la fotografia lo prepara ad affrontare la tela, solcandola con pennellate di vino che disegnano il mondo che vuole raccontare.
Olio, acrilici, legno, vetro, ferro, pietra, cera: Roberto Arvedos Piana è un alchimista, che gioca col fuoco e, attraverso il fuoco, trasforma ogni materia che incontra.
Predatore di fantasia, navigatore del pensiero, passa dall’alchimia della cucina all’alchimia dell’arte, rubando con la disinvoltura del pirata le materie prime del nutrimento per trasformarle in materiali artistici, che sublimati dalla tecnica sapiente della fotografia e della pittura, con cui sorprendentemente ritrae i resti e gli schizzi del nostro quotidiano, suggellano un’emozione sulla superficie aristocratica e preziosa dell’arte.
